The Plava Laguna Ironman 70.3 Poreč, Istria – Croatia was held in Poreč from 18 to 20 October 2024, and the first ones to reach the finish line were Tim Gošnjak from Slovenia with a time of 3 hours and 57 minutes and Marija Lukina from Croatia with a time of 4 hours and 19 minutes.
A total of 1,800 participants joined the third Ironman 70.3 triathlon race in Poreč, competing in a 1.9-kilometre swim, a 90-kilometre bike ride, and a 21.1-kilometre run.
Among this year's participants, 600 of them were first-timers at the race in Poreč, with the youngest participant being 18, and the oldest 76 years old. More than 420 volunteers helped organise the race to a very high standard.
The event was hosted by Plava Laguna and supported by the Town of Poreč, the Town of Poreč Tourist Board, the Municipality of Funtana, the Municipality of Funtana Tourist Board, the Istria County, the Istria County Tourist Board, the Croatian National Tourist Board, the Croatian Olympic Committee, the companies Bina Istra, Podravka, Kala, Cedevita, Ožujsko pivo, Hidra Iso, Crippa Campeggio, and many other sponsors.
Upon the completion of the third edition of this spectacular sports event, Plava Laguna concluded a license agreement with the Ironman Group to host Ironman 70.3 races for the period from 2025 to 2027. This agreement is a result of an extraordinary and satisfying three-year cooperation between the Ironman Group and Plava Laguna in Poreč. Hosting the Ironman 70.3 races attracts significant international recognition, and the partnership with the Ironman Group further strengthens the position of Plava Laguna as a key player in the sports and tourism industry. Poreč and Istria, known for their natural beauty and conditions suitable for sports and recreation, are ideal for hosting such prestigious competitions.
