Once again this year, as part of the Bee Sweet to the Bees initiative, Plava Laguna is proud to support the "Save the Bees" photo contest — a contest inspired by the beauty, importance and quiet industriousness of bees in nature.
From 1 June to 31 July 2026, we invite you to capture a moment with the bees and share your photo in the Facebook group "Bee Sweet to the Bees – Save the Bees". Whether a bee pays you a visit over your morning coffee on the terrace, as you stroll through Istria's flowering meadows or explore the resorts of Plava Laguna — your lens can tell a story that inspires.

The Bee Sweet To The Bees Initiative
Plava Laguna has been running the "Bee Sweet to the Bees" initiative since 2024, in cooperation with the beekeeping associations Udruga pčelara Bujština and Udruga pčelara Nektar from Poreč, with a clear goal: to protect bees and raise awareness of their irreplaceable role in nature, in the ecosystem and in our everyday lives.
Guests and the local community have taken part in a wide range of activities — gifting locally produced honey, planting bee-friendly plants, educational tastings in Umag and Poreč, working alongside local beekeepers, as well as last year's photo contest and exhibition at Hotel Pelegrin Plava Laguna. This year, the initiative is growing with even more to offer, with a special focus on children, families and learning through play.

New In 2026: "Bee Sweet" Hotels For Solitary Bees Have Arrived In Poreč
Another sustainable novelty awaits the guests of Plava Laguna — small hotels for solitary bees at Camping Zelena Laguna and Plava Resort Plava Laguna. Crafted from natural materials such as bamboo, reed and wood, they provide a safe home for pollinators and form an important part of Plava Laguna's long-term strategy for preserving biodiversity.
The project was carried out in cooperation with Udruga pčelara Nektar. The first hotel, at Plava Resort, was officially opened on 24 April 2026, with the participation of children from local kindergartens and schools. The second hotel, at Camping Zelena Laguna, welcomes its first guests on 9 June 2026, as part of a rich programme of eco-focused activities run by the Activities & Experiences Team!
Activities & Experiences - A Honey Adventure For Everyone
Summer in Poreč and Umag brings a special honey-filled story. As part of the Pepi Clubs and Eko Day activities, guests can join programmes dedicated to bees and pollinating insects that bring together play, nature and learning.
